CNC/EDM Operator

TA Staffing, in partnership with a Premier Smyrna Business, is now hiring for a CNC/EDM Operator.

CNC/EDM Operator position overview: Responsible for ensuring CNC machines are scheduled, have sufficient supplies, developing new programs, and training new CNC personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule tooling on machining center and wire machines to ensure production and customer quality requirements are met.
  • GENERAL: Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • PAPER WORK AND DOCUMENT CENTER TRAINING: Read/interpret Work Orders, drawings/schematics; Labor Tickets. Documents listed under Tooling on Document Center menu. Quality Policy, Environmental Policy, Environmental Work Instructions, and HSE Website.
  • HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL (HSE): Successfully complete HSE training as listed on this job position’s Training Instruction Checklist.
  • SAFE MACHINE OPERATION: Identify/remove slip, trip, and fall hazards. Housekeeping, equipment, and work station cleaning procedures. Understand PPE requirements. Light curtain and Machine guarding, as required.
  • GAGE TRAINING: Operation of all applicable gages. Reads and interprets engineering drawings, written/oral and specifications, and uses the information to repair progressive dies. Disassemble and reassemble dies of all kinds.Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and maintain all area equipment and tooling in a professional manner. Operate hand tools, measurement devices, surface grinders, pedestal grinders, belt sander, hardness tester & any other equipment needed to perform die repair and maintenance requirements. Use measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, and hardness testers. Set up and operates Tool Room equipment needed to perform machining, grinding, etc.. May set up CNC/EDM equipment and load the equipment with the correct cutting tools. CNC operator machinist would then inspect work pieces throughout a production run. In addition the CNC/EDM machinists measures and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
  • Supply own basic personal tools
  • TOOLING: Die Construction. Band Die. Housing Die. Form Grinding.
  • CNC: Machine Maintenance. Program Familiarity. CNC Language. Order all supplies to support CNC equipment. Train new personnel for all CNC department requirements. Estimate cost of new tooling to be produced on CNCs and report cost savings and efficiencies to the Toolroom Manager.
  • Work within department budgets, both cost and labor.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Toolroom Training Instruction Checklist.
  • When necessary may perform other typical duties.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Vocational training in machine shop practices or have very related machine shop training and/or previously demonstrated experience in efficient and independent setup, operation experience on Ideal Press, ACM, Screw Shop or outside experience in setting up complex machine tool equipment, metal forming, assembly or fabrication or other relevant equipment and experience coupled with machine shop schooling.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assure compliance to all required industry standards and government requirements as stated in the Company Quality Manual, Quality Management System, process documentation and all Company Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines to ensure customer requirements are met.
