Finding the Right Candidate
Tips on selecting Quality Candidates:

• Be sure you are placing your job descriptions in areas that would attract the most qualified candidates. For example, if you are looking for a Financial Analyst, then be sure to post your job opportunities in multiple business publications, business websites, and other industry-specific areas.
• Hire a new candidate on a temporary basis. Much like an audition, the candidate will reveal their true potential when placed in real experiences. Temporary employees allow for less paperwork and stress, and allow for the opportunity to determine whether they will be a successful fit for a full-time position.
• Try a different type of interviewing style called Behavioral Interviewing. Behavioral Interviewing consists of specific questions that have proven to be more accurate in predicting a candidate's future actions. Examples include "tell me about a time when a project failed to go according to plan. What did you do to fix the problem?", or, "have you ever had to work with someone you didn't agree with? How did you resolve any issues?" More information on Behavioral Interviewing can be found from our September newsletter here.
• Don't be afraid to ask for help. Staffing firms generally have access to a much larger, more varied pool of talent, and have greater experience matching a candidate with your specifications.
